A Note about Events

You'll notice some changes in ticket pricing when registering for the in-person butchery and charcuterie events for which I am running registration (and not the host). Namely, there are now different categories of prices. Most people will be signing up for General Registration. There are some events for which a few folx will have pre-registered with the host, so if you are one of those people you will see an item just for you that allows you to pay your remaining balance. Please don't select this option if you have not pre-registered with the event host for your respective event. I will know who you are and we will have to do a whole other complicated invoicing process to get you paid in full. Thanks for being awesome, y'all.

More significantly, you will notice that there are a few free tickets available for each event. These seats are being made available in an attempt to pass knowledge to a wider audience, and at this time I am offering these tickets to Black, Brown, Indigenous folx and more specifically will be prioritizing Black Women, Indigenous Women, or Women of Color when it comes to these seats. I am not doing this because I believe BI&WoC or BI&PoC need or are asking for fee waivers to attend my classes, I am doing this as a form of professional reparations because I know that the knowledge I bear and share is knowledge that originated with and is owned by mostly non-white women, globally. In my ongoing effort to pass knowledge along and not be a singular voice claiming ownership or authority, I am doing what I can to make space and return energy, specifically to the bodies and minds from whose lineage it has been stolen or erased. I also acknowledge that while I am in the process of healing my own ancestry, I do not hold the cultural ties to this knowledge that many BI&WoC do, and so the presence of people of culture at events which are intended to build culture is needed, and those willing to bring that power to these events should be compensated or rewarded.

I want to add that I am fully aware these seats may not be taken as offered, and if they are not they will return to the general registration pool. I am fully aware that the majority of my students identify as white, and I am white, and therefore the spaces in my classes may not feel safe to BI&WoC. To address this I am making 2-3 tickets available at events where I have control of the registration process so as not to create an isolated feeling for BI&WoC or BI&PoC individuals, but I do want to acknowledge that this is imperfect and may not serve its intended purpose.

This is a new effort on my part that I've arrived at after several years of hesitating about how imperfect it truly is. As we know from culinary experimentation, farming, community relationship building, and other endeavors which fascinate us and bring us alive, effort is far more worthy than hesitation almost every time.

If you are interested in these seats but would like to talk more with me to discover if the course will be a good fit for you, I encourage you to reach out to me via email.
